How Hoda Kotb Manages Her $2.89 Million Household, Two Children, and a Career in Suburbia

Hoda Kotb decided it was time for a change after celebrating her 60th birthday. Leaving her hectic New York City routine behind, she decided to embrace a calmer pace of life for her family. How is she settling into her new situation, and what caused this shift?

August was Hoda Kotb’s 60th birthday. About a month after her milestone birthday, she had an emotional moment on “Today,” reflecting on how it made her reevaluate her priorities.

Hoda, who is well-known for her optimistic outlook and hard work, is currently directing her energies toward something more significant in her life. Nonetheless, this choice wasn’t a picnic. An Emotional Farewell to “Today” Despite her long tenure as a morning TV staple, Kotb announced her departure from the show in September 2024. She reminded the audience of “Today” that it was time to move on after reflecting on her achievements, and she did so with tears in her eyes.

On the 26th episode of “Today,” Kotb made a heartfelt statement about “turning the page at 60 and trying something new.” Adding, “I feel like we have only a limited amount of time,” the mother of two explained that her decision was prompted by her need to spend more quality time with her girls.

According to Kotb, her daughters should have a larger share of her “time pie.” But her birthday wasn’t the sole consideration. Haley, who is seven years old, and Hope, who is five years old, were her primary motivations.

She did concede that she had children later in life and felt obligated to give them more attention. Despite the difficulty of the decision, Kotb felt compelled to put her family first and seize the opportunities that lay ahead.

A New Beginning: Relocating to the Suburbs

Even before she made her official exit from the “Today” show public, Kotb had started making adjustments. She made the decision to relocate to a peaceful suburb from the bustling streets of Manhattan.

I struggled with this decision. Though she could have stayed in the city for convenience’s sake, Kotb felt a stronger pull to a more rural location. She recounted how she had discovered a small village that met all her needs, including the opportunity to instill independence in her children.

The relocation wasn’t merely about shifting places; it was about building a home where Hope and Haley could experience joy, love, and security. To provide a safe and loving home for her two girls, Kotb set out to do just that.

According to her, her goal is for her children to enjoy spending time at home because it should be a welcoming and comfortable environment. Kotb coined the term “repotting” when she was getting ready for the change.

She saw her family as having outgrown their current home and were in need of a more spacious environment in which to continue their growth. Her girls related to the concept of “repotting” as well, though they found it funny.

At first, they didn’t understand when Kotb described the relocation to them. It was like, ‘What?’ to them. “Are we relocating?” Assuring them that this was but a stepping stone in their family’s path, Kotb smiled as he recalled the event.

The choice by Kotb to relocate from Manhattan to Bronxville, New York, was a watershed moment. Her family will be able to flourish in the $2.89 million house she bought with a trust.

Her new property provides a tranquil suburban lifestyle with convenient access to Midtown Manhattan, all within 30 minutes.

The Colonial-style home, which Kotb, Haley, and Hope occupy to a comfortable degree, boasts four bedrooms and five bathrooms spread throughout its 4,000 square feet of construction from 1952. Thanks to recent renovations and an open floor plan, Kotb has created the perfect home for her family.

The modifications were completed in time for the family to move in by the end of the summer, thanks to EC Builders, the firm responsible for the work, who showed their gratitude on social media.

With an open floor plan that lets people move freely from one space to another, this house is perfect for families. A chef’s kitchen, formal dining room, and sun-drenched family room with custom built-ins and a vaulted ceiling are all located on the main floor.

There is a large bluestone patio outside that is great for parties and barbecues. One of the nicest aspects about Kotb’s move from her flat in Manhattan to the countryside was having a backyard.

The master suite is an enormous 764 square feet, complete with a deluxe bathroom including radiant-heated marble floors and double sinks, as well as bespoke cabinetry and closets. Additional living or playroom space for the kids is available on the lower level of the house.

Guests, such as Kotb’s “Today” co-host Savannah Guthrie, have begun to descend on the flower-filled lot, which spans a third of an acre.

According to Kotb, she wants her new house to be “warm and cozy” so her girls would feel right at home. With their own bedrooms and living areas, Haley and Hope couldn’t be happier with their new digs.

Reflections on Manhattan’s Past, Part II Even though Kotb is looking forward to her new suburban existence, she has had to overcome some emotional obstacles along the way. It was during her reflection on leaving her Manhattan apartment that she broke down in tears on an episode of “Today with Hoda & Jenna” from June 2024.

She brought her girls home there for the first time, and many fond memories of their childhood still linger there. Kotb talked about how tough it was to leave the apartment where she had so many memories of her girls, from the time she saw them climb the stairs to the time she saw them run down them as they became older.

She spoke with a tear in her eye and a voice that conveyed the struggle between clinging to things and letting go. It was difficult for Kotb to let go of those memories, but she and her girls needed to make this shift.

With the start of a new chapter in her life, Kotb is putting her family first. She has moved closer to the life she dreams of for her girls and herself since leaving “Today” and relocating to the suburbs, which was a huge change.

Now that she has a lovely new house to raise her family in, Kotb is looking forward to what the future holds. Though she felt mixed emotions about leaving Manhattan and “Today,” she is excited about the new chapter that this marks for her and her family.
