Orlando Halloween: What Happened?
The gunshot at East Central Boulevard and North Orange Avenue in Orlando was responded to by police at around 1:00 a.m. on November 1, according to WFLA. Because of the enormous crowds that come with Halloween, the Orlando Police Department asserted that they had approximately one hundred officers manning the beat that night.
The following day, on November 1, Mayor Buddy Dyer addressed the violence at a news conference. We desire a lively and entertaining downtown, but we’ve just witnessed irate criminals coming downtown and openly shooting and killing innocent people, right in front of our police officers,” he said. It is regrettable that the recent revisions to state concealed weapons laws have facilitated the ease with which individuals can own firearms and bring them into public spaces.
Another life has been senselessly lost as a result of gun violence, and I must admit that it is frustrating for me to have to stand here and tell you this news again, Dyer added.
Residents of Florida are now able to carry concealed loaded weapons without a permit, thanks to legislation signed by Governor Ron DeSantis in 2023.
Just how many people lost their lives in the mass shooting?
According to WFLA, two out of nine victims of the Orlando mass shooting on Halloween were murdered. Six of the people hurt ended up in hospitals. The individuals who lost their lives are in the age bracket of 19–39.
