After making his Wheel of Fortune debut on Monday night, many were thrilled by 49-year-old Ryan Seacrest, despite his initial trepidation.
Pat Sajak wasn’t certain Seacrest would be the best pick, despite the fact that people appeared to like the new face on Wheel. A source claimed that Sajak explicitly stated that Seacrest wasn’t the longstanding presenter’s preference before the American Idol host made his debut.
A senior Sony source told The U.S. Sun, “Pat purposefully stayed out of that process and Ryan wasn’t his choice to replace him.”
Who Sajak would have preferred was not disclosed by the source.
They said, “Ryan was very astute when he accepted the position to treat Pat with the utmost respect at all times. “Ryan did not want any kind of conflict to exist between them.”
“Ryan presents himself as Pat’s supporter, which helps him [Ryan] enjoy this honeymoon period while the fans assess his suitability for the show.”
Sajak hasn’t made his thoughts about Seacrest’s initial days on the job public.
In the months preceding his first appearance on Wheel of Fortune, host Brian Seacrest paid tribute to “the legendary Pat Sajak,” even though he didn’t mention the 77-year-old by name.
“Pat, I adore how you’ve consistently praised the competitors and put the home viewers at ease. I’m excited to pick your brains for as much information as I can during this change.
