Jane’s Addiction Cancels 2024 Tour and Announces Hiatus

Following the events of the last weekend, Jane’s Addiction has canceled the remainder of their 2024 season and issued a new statement announcing a hiatus.

Frontman Perry Farrell and guitarist Dave Navarro got into a physical altercation during the band’s Sept. 13 Boston show. Crew members helped the vocalist off the stage, and the next day the band apologized on social media for the incident.

The band declared in the post that their Sept. 15 gig in Bridgeport, Connecticut, would not be happening. But the band has canceled the remainder of the tour and announced that they are taking a hiatus as a group in two fresh announcements that they posted on social media today, September 16.

“To all the fans, the band have made the difficult decision to take some time away as a group. As such, they will be cancelling the remainder of the tour,” the statement reads, adding that refunds will be given to ticket holders at the point of purchase.

A second statement was shared in a post on Navarro’s personal Instagram, signed by himself, Eric Avery and Stephen Perkins.

“Due to a continuing pattern of behavior and the mental health difficulties of our singer Perry Farrell, we have come to the conclusion that we have no choice but to discontinue the current U.S. tour. Our concern for his personal health and safety as well as our own has left us no alternative. We hope that he will find the help he needs,” the post reads.

“We deeply regret that we are not able to come through for all our fans who have already bought tickets. We can see no solution that would either ensure a safe environment on stage or reliably allow us to deliver a great performance on a nightly basis. Our hearts are broken.”

What Occurred in Boston
Friday night, near the conclusion of Jane’s Addiction’s performance at Boston’s Leader Bank Pavilion, Farrell began yelling at Navarro and running into him. The guitarist used his arm to try to keep the singer away from him, but Farrell hit the man before being led off the stage.

“We want to extend a heartfelt apology to our fans for the events that unfolded last night,” the band wrote in a public apology posted on their Instagram story the following day. We shall thus be postponing our performance in Bridgeport for tomorrow night.”

The tour was originally set to wrap up Oct. 16 in Los Angeles.
