However, despite the benefits, there are hazards involved as well. Particularly with regards to kids who might not have truly figured out how to make the connection between the physical and digital worlds.
Most of the instances of kids unintentionally spending big sums of money on mobile games have been filed recently. The last time this happened, an 11-year-old paid SEK 6,000 for virtual currency.
The mother tells P4 Värmland, “At first, I didn’t understand what it was, but then I realized that it was via TikTok.”
“Difficult to say who will dig money from”
She had blocked the girl’s phone so that she couldn’t spend more than a thousand kroner. But it’s clear that this didn’t work. On the advice of the insurance provider, they have now reported the occurrence to the three parties involved: TikTok, Telia, and Apple.
– Since it is hard to predict where money will be found. so they place the blame on one another. The mother says, “You can’t get hold of TikTok,” to the channel.
In hindsight, she issues a challenge to all parents of similar-aged kids who enjoy apps or other comparable platforms where they can earn money.
It has come to my attention that there is such a thing as “parental control” after speaking with additional victims. You can then log in, and as soon as she attempts to download an app, I receive a query that needs to be answered. She tells the broadcaster, “I don’t think she can buy anything now anyway.”
