The 1999 movie Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace included American actor Jake Lloyd as a young Anakin Skywalker, which helped him become well-known. His mother, Lisa Lloyd, has acknowledged that he has spent the last ten months at a mental health facility and will stay there for an additional six months, according to recent reports.
Jake Lloyd, 35, who was given a paranoid schizophrenia diagnosis in 2008, departed the acting industry today as a result of backlash over The Phantom Menace. But Lisa Lloyd, his mother, denies that this had an effect on his mental state.
This would have occurred in either case. “I think it’s genetic, and his psychiatrist concurs that Jake was born with schizophrenia,” the woman said.
When his symptoms got more regular and rapidly intensified during high school, concerns about his troublesome behavior started to arise. “He began discussing ‘parallel realities.'” He was not sure whether he was in this reality or a different one. She recalled, “I wasn’t really sure how to react to that.”
After Lisa brought her son to the doctor, the physician first suspected bipolar disorder but eventually made a conclusive diagnosis. She talked about the challenging battle it was to attempt to assist Jake, who frequently refused to take his medicine. They almost lost their lives together when he had a breakdown when they were driving last year. Jake spent a year and a half in a facility after this incident.
“His performance has exceeded my expectations. It’s great that he’s starting to interact with others more and become a little more gregarious. Lisa said, “Jake was always quite gregarious before he became ill, so it’s like the old Jake is returning.
Jake played a young Anakin Skywalker in The Phantom Menace when he was just nine years old, but the celebrity that followed caused him a lot of issues. Bullying occurred at school as a result of the movie’s disappointment to a lot of franchise fans. He quit acting in 2001 after completing Madison. In addition to Star Wars, he costarred with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the comedy Jingle All the Way in 1996.
He was given a ten-month jail sentence after being detained in 2015 for dangerous driving without a license, running a red light, and resisting arrest. After being moved to a mental health hospital, he was given a schizophrenia diagnosis. In 2019, he supposedly spent his 32nd birthday there and left the hospital for a short while. He was freed once more and came back the previous year.
Jake allegedly physically attacked his mother a number of years prior, but since he wasn’t taking medicine at the time, she decided not to press charges. He also had to deal with the loss of his younger sister Madison in 2018, who, at the age of 26, died quietly while sleeping. According to Jake’s mother, her passing devastated the whole family, particularly her son.
