In early October 2024, Liam Payne was seen in Argentina greeting friends and spending time with his girlfriend, Kate Cassidy. He was found dead in Buenos Aires, though, which was very sad. What killed Liam Payne
Liam died on October 16, 2024, when he fell from his hotel room on the third floor and hit his head. A statement from the Sistema de Atencion Medica de Emergencia that Telemundo obtained said, “In the afternoon, police from Precinct 14B were sent to the hotel after receiving a 911 call about a man who was acting aggressively and may have been drunk or high.”
According to the hotel’s 911 call to the cops, an employee said, “We have a guest who is too drunk and high on drugs.” And, well, he makes the whole room ring when he’s awake. Please send someone right away, as we don’t know if the guest’s life is in danger. He is in a room with a balcony. We’re a little worried that he might do something dangerous.
The preliminary autopsy report on Liam Payne
The Argentina National Prosecutor’s Office said in a news release that Liam died from “polytrauma and internal and external bleeding,” which is what TODAY got from the autopsy report. The news statement also said that “a number of substances were seized from the musician’s room, which would indicate that he had been using drugs and alcohol in the past.”
The prosecutor’s office said that Liam’s death was “doubtful/undetermined,” which means that the cause of his death is still unknown. But it also said that the proof shows “that the musician was by himself when he fell and that he was having some kind of breakdown because he was abusing drugs.”
The late “Teardrops” artist also died from “multiple traumatic injuries” and “internal and external bleeding” caused by the fall, according to the autopsy report. A press statement said that about 25 injuries were found, including ones to Liam’s head that “contributed to the mechanism of death.”
Later, ABC News said that a partial autopsy had been done in Argentina, which proved that Payne was high on several drugs when he died, such as crack, benzodiazepines, and “pink cocaine.” A lot of people think of pink cocaine as a mix of drugs like methamphetamine, MDMA, ketamine, and others.

Before Liam died, Kate shared a TikTok video in which she talked about how their trip to Argentina was only meant to last a few days.
