The 76th birthday celebration for billionaire John Catsimatidis took place at Cipriani 42nd Street on Friday night at the annual gala for his 77 WABC radio station.
Tony Orlando, the presenter of WABC and singer of “Tie a Yellow Ribbon,” was recognized during the occasion. Orlando also got back together with Dawn, his backup group.
Started years ago at the Metropolitan Club, Catsimatidis and his wife, Margo, always organize a September party for friends with Virgo birthdays.
However, in order to expand the gala after the couple took over WABC, they transferred the event to Cipriani.
At least forty additional Virgos joined the couple in partying on Friday.
“Telma Hopkins and Joyce Vincent [the duo known as Dawn] had not performed with Tony Orlando in decades,” a spy stated of the gala. They were flown in for the big reveal by John and Margo. The audience went wild when they sang “Knock Three Times,” “Candida,” and “Tie A Yellow Ribbon.”
Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, David Paterson, Anthony Weiner, radio icon Bruce “Cousin Brucie” Morrow, Joe Piscopo, the former top cop of the New York Police Department, Ray Kelly, Andrea Catsimatidis, John’s daughter, Bill de Blasio, Red Apple Media president Chad Lopez, Bill O’Reilly, Larry Kudlow, Jeanine Pirro, Lally Weymouth, and anchor Ernie Anastos were among those present.
