Jonathan Owens, the spouse of Simone Biles, was referred to as “Mr. Biles” by an NFL pundit following his touchdown during Sunday’s Chicago Bears vs. Tennessee Titans game.
In a video that was uploaded to Instagram and featured the Bears’ safety racing to the end zone, the pundit stated, “Mr. Biles getting in there.”
“Excellent work from him,” the sportscaster continued.
When the pundit called 29-year-old Owens by his wife’s last name, many fans found it funny. One fan wrote, “Wait did they said [sic] mr biles 😂.”
Another person said, “‘Mister Biles getting in there’ is crazy, but that’s a super valid acceptable title lol good play Owens 👏.”
A third joked, “Boy’s new name is Johnathan [sic] Biles,” and a fourth added, “Calling him Mr. Biles on live tv is Diabolical 😂😂.”
The 27-year-old Biles also shared her joy after her husband’s huge play on Instagram Story, writing, “LFG!!!… TOUCHDOWN FOR HUBBY.”
The Bears defeated the Titans 17–24 in their opening game of the 2023–2024 season.
After playing for the Green Bay Packers in 2023, Owens made his Bears debut.
By going to a preseason game last month, Biles demonstrated her support for the NFL star’s new endeavor.
But when the eleven-time Olympian arrived at the game wearing a Packers jacket, people reacted negatively.
Since then, she has disclosed that she has “plenty” of Bears clothing and has reassured supporters not to worry in a TMZ interview earlier this month.
Notably, Biles and Owens have supported one another throughout their respective careers.
Owens watched the gymnast win three medals over the summer at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris while cheering her on from the stands.
The couple, who got married in April 2023, said they “both have goals” to accomplish before starting a family, but they “most definitely” want kids.
