Keanu Reeves lost control and nearly collided as he made his professional motor racing debut on Saturday at one of the most renowned racetracks globally.
The “Matrix” actor lost control of his Toyota on the ninth lap of the Toyota GR Cup Series race at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indiana on Saturday, as reported by AP News.
While executing his turn, the 60-year-old actor veered off the racetrack and onto the grass, narrowly evading a collision with another vehicle.
The event occurred almost midway through the 45-minute race. He sustained no injuries and successfully returned to achieve a 25th-place finish.
He qualified 31st out of 35 vehicles, as reported by AP. He is scheduled to participate in a second event on Sunday.
Reeves operates the No. 92 BRZRKR vehicle, which advertises his graphic novel, “The Book of Elsewhere,” released in July.
The Toyota GR Cup is occurring concurrently with the Indy 8 Hour event.
Reeves have previous racing experience, having triumphed in the Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach celebrity race in 2009.
The “John Wick” actor is an avid racing enthusiast, having attended the MotoGP Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland in Germany with his longtime girlfriend, Alexandra Grant, in July.
He also visited the Formula 1 British Grand Prix qualifying event in July 2022, which he described as “thrilling,” according to Express.
“I believe that proximity allows one to witness the astonishing speed and the manner in which they navigate and exit the turns,” he remarked.
