During a recent interview with the Times of London, Sir Ian McKellen expressed his scathing opinions towards the late Queen Elizabeth II and other members of the royal family.
The British actor, who was recuperating following a fall off a London theater stage, opened up to the source about his encounters with the queen and his thoughts on Prince Harry’s autobiography.
The late queen was “quite rude” to the 85-year-old Lord of the Rings actor during the few occasions he saw her.
“You’ve been doing this for an awfully long time,” she observed to me after I got an acting medal. “Well, not as long as you,” I said,” he recounted. “After giving me a regal grin, she asked, ‘Does anyone still go to the theater?’ When you’re awarding someone a medal for acting, that is incredibly impolite. “Does anyone care a f–k about you because I don’t,” was the implication. You may now depart!
By the end of her life, McKellen said, he thought, she was “quite mad,” especially after reading Prince Harry’s book, Spare.
Imagine being born into the royal family, McKellen added, adding that he was “on Harry’s side.” I’ve spent some time in the public eye, but these folks are incarcerated. There is nothing normal they can do. Can you picture yourself needing to be polite to everyone you speak with?
He said, “Hats off to anyone who manages to stay sane in that world.” similar to what the late Duke of Edinburgh accomplished, despite the fact that even he was incredibly strange and, I imagine, incredibly unhappy. Likewise, with the current king. He barely makes it, but it’s obvious that he’s hurt.
Regarding Harry, it’s likely that he lacks the necessary friends or isn’t intelligent enough to truly assist himself. To be sure, he could have chosen any attractive woman in the world. I’m hoping he has the correct one.
Sir Ian McKellen was forthright in his criticism of the British royal family. Are you serious about what he said on the late Queen Elizabeth II?
